MEET MIKKELA 💙

Mikkela’s life took a transformative turn when she sought help after experiencing homelessness. The unwavering support from A Safe Haven Foundation became the cornerstone of her journey to rebuild her life. A Safe Haven provided Mikkela with a range of essential resources that were crucial for her fresh start. One of the most impactful services was daycare for her child, which allowed her to focus on her personal goals without worrying about childcare. Additionally, A Safe Haven offered:

Housing Assistance: Mikkela was provided with a safe and stable place to live, which gave her the security she needed to start over.
Vocational Training: These programs equipped Mikkela with new skills and improved her employability, helping her to secure a stable job.
Life Skills: These classes, which included financial literacy and personal development, gave Mikkela the knowledge and confidence to pursue her aspirations.

MEET OLIVIA 💖

Imagine living each day without knowing where your next meal or shelter will come from. This was Olivia's reality as a mother of five, including twins. Before arriving at A Safe Haven Foundation, she experienced homelessness, moving from shelter to shelter and enduring unsanitary conditions. Each day, she felt hopeless as she struggled to meet her family's basic needs for food, soap, and diapers.

A Safe Haven Foundation provided Olivia with hope and stability. She found security and peace of mind, allowing her to plan for her family's future. Her children were overjoyed to meet Santa Claus, and Olivia felt empowered to break the cycle of homelessness for her family.

MEET MARY 💫

When Mary arrived at A Safe Haven Foundation, she felt lost and uncertain. Seeing other people succeed taught Mary that she was not alone in her struggles. “You always think you are the only one that’s been through certain things – and no, that’s not it. That’s what opened my eyes – to hear other people’s stories and to know you are not alone.” Inspired, Mary embraced the opportunities before her.

Through the job readiness courses and custodial engineering vocational training program, she gained valuable skills and confidence. After completing a seven-week course, she was thrilled to receive a job offer, marking a significant turning point in her life. The determination of the women Mary met motivated her to succeed.

Thanks to ASHF, she secured permanent housing and purchased a car, taking pride in her stability. Her journey taught her the value of second chances, and she looks forward to a wonderful future.

THE FIGHT CONTINUES

Our mission is far from over. The struggle against homelessness in our community is ongoing and urgent. Between 2023 and 2024, the number of individuals experiencing homelessness on a single night has doubled. This stark reality underscores the critical need for continued action and support. 🙏
