Abbey Repairs

Two crucial areas of the monastery need urgent repairs to ensure our monastic community's continued safety and comfort. The estimates they have gotten total over $53,000, a capital expense that is not in their budget.

  1. Repair of the back Deck and Fire Escape

Their beautiful deck that runs along the second floor off their community rooms requires substantial repairs. This deck is not only a community space where the monks gather and enjoy the outdoors overlooking the ridge, but it also plays a vital role in ensuring their safety during emergencies. Several support beams are rotting and general wear and tear over the years is evident. The deck is in a condition that requires immediate attention to prevent further deterioration and ensure that it remains safe for use.

  1. Shower Wall Panel Repairs

Additionally, our monks are facing issues with the shower facilities in their rooms. When the new Abbey building was built the shower panels stopped just above the shower head level, leaving simply painted drywall extending up to the ceiling. Being good stewards, and always living in moderation, the monks have sanded and repainted these walls for years as moisture slowly wrapped the drywall. This has created an unsightly and potentially hazardous situation for them. They hope to end the patching and repairing cycle by installing tile in each monastic room bathroom.

We are asking for your support to help us cover the costs of these repairs. Your donation will directly help our Abbey be a safer and more comfortable home for the monks. Thank you for your consideration!
