My name is Arilyn, and this summer I've been accepted as a student to Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM). I'm raising funds to help my family better afford this experience for me. At LSM, I'll be able to take private lessons on my double bass, play in a string chamber music group, and play in a symphony orchestra with other students from around the country.

In this world there are a few things I adore, namely music and learning. Ultimately, I want to go to LSM because I want to become a better musician, and going to LSM provides that opportunity. For me becoming a better musician means more than coming back after this experience being able to play better, it means that I come back better prepared for my future. I want to become a music therapist in order to help others express themselves, to find themselves, but in order to do that I have to be willing to take a chance and grow, as a musician and as a person.

Lutheran Summer Music Academy & Festival (LSM) is the nation’s premier faith-based music academy for high school students. In addition to advanced musical instruction and numerous performance opportunities, LSM students form an intentional community, living together for four weeks on a Lutheran college campus. Since 1981, this unique and immersive program has guided the lives of young musicians who credit LSM as the starting place for their future careers and vocations.

LSM was founded to celebrate and extend the rich musical heritage of the Lutheran church. Our founders believed that by providing high-quality training and performance opportunities to young musicians they could cultivate a lifelong love of classical and sacred music, thus preserving these art forms for generations to come.
