What Is ARC-EX?

ARC-EX is the first FDA-approved, non-invasive spinal cord stimulation system designed to improve hand sensation and strength in people with chronic cervical spinal cord injury.

Developed by ONWARD Medical, ARC-EX delivers gentle electrical stimulation through electrodes placed on the back of the neck while individuals practice real-world functional tasks in the clinic—like gripping, reaching, and self-care activities.

This therapy is personalized, non-surgical, and used only in supervised rehabilitation settings like ours.

Why ARC-EX Matters

For people living with spinal cord injury, regaining even small movements can unlock much bigger changes—greater independence, confidence, and quality of life. Promising research is underway utilizing this technology for other levels of spinal cord injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke, and Brain injury recovery.

The Evidence Behind ARC-EX

ARC-EX is backed by strong clinical research.

In the Up-LIFT pivotal trial, published in Nature Medicine:

90% of participants improved in at least one key strength or functional measure
87% reported improvements in overall quality of life
Meaningful improvements were seen up to 34 years after injury
No serious device-related adverse events were reported
