The Armenian Legal Defense Front has partnered with the Tatoyan Foundation and the SavetheArQ Movement to carry on the legal defense funding in 2025, following its successful fundraising of $126,132.

The SavetheArQ Movement launched in May 2023 and has been dedicated to preserving and protecting the Armenian Quarter of Jerusalem. Following the discovery of an illegal 98-year lease of this treasured, historic property, the Armenian community of Jerusalem initiated legal proceedings a year ago to nullify this unlawful agreement signed by the Armenian Patriarchate.

To date, the Tatoyan Foundation Legal Defense Fund for Jerusalem supported the legal funding for the filing of the current lawsuit, answering the counterclaim, getting our boys out of jail after the attacks by armed settlers, and continued legal representation on the ground. In 2024, the campaign raised $126,132.

This money will go solely to continuing the legal work ahead. With the first hearing on September 17, 2025, your contribution will go towards continuing our legal proceedings, funding: the drafting of continued pleadings, the preparation of discovery, and other time-sensitive actions that will go towards raising awareness before relevant courts, decision-makers, and international tribunals.

No member of the SavetheArQ team, the Tatoyan Foundation, or the Armenian Legal Defense Front has taken funding or will take funding. The money goes strictly to legal proceedings and will continue to do so.

For our nation, this is a critical theme that transcends geographic limitations and evidences a wider, indeed quite sophisticated, effort to effectuate the ultimate dispossession and displacement of the Armenian people from key places of historic presence and international importance. Just as in Western Armenia, we see this stratagem unfolding today in Artsakh, on the borders of Armenia and, now quite starkly, in Jerusalem too.

Jerusalem Armenians have taken a powerful and noble stand against forces bent on changing the history and demography of our people’s centuries-old existence in the Old City. The voice of the Armenian people remains the final defense of this historic presence—and indeed, of our people’s very future—in the Armenian Quarter.
