Mothers for Awareness and Prevention of Drug Abuse (MAPDA) was founded by mothers who turned unimaginable loss into purpose. What began as a grassroots effort in Southern California has grown into a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to preventing substance abuse through awareness, education, and advocacy.

MAPDA was born from the reality that too many families are forced to face the devastating and irreversible impact of substance abuse. Instead of staying silent, these mothers chose to speak out, take action, and create change so that other families would not have to experience the same loss.

Today, MAPDA is at the forefront of prevention, working to ensure individuals and communities are equipped with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to recognize risks early and act before it’s too late. Through education, public awareness campaigns, and policy advocacy, MAPDA is addressing the evolving and urgent nature of the substance abuse epidemic.

We recognize that drugs are reaching individuals earlier, more quietly, and more easily than ever before. That is why our work focuses on prevention first.
