Hi!! My name's Daniela Ventura. I am a Cuban biologist and budding ornithologist, based at the University of Havana.

The girl in this picture is a 19-year-old Daniela, ecstatic at her first BirdsCaribbean conference, in Cuba in 2017.
Back then, I was a sophomore student at the university, and being able to assist at that conference, defined my career path and cemented my life's passion: study and conserve Cuban birds.
The colleagues and mentors I met there, the brilliant keynote speakers who inspired me with conservation success stories, and the opportunity to start to collaborate with bird conservation projects on my island, have been crucial for my journey.
Today, seven years after that life-changing experience, I am full of gratitude for the opportunities and the BirdsCaribbean conservation family that I have been lucky to treasure over the years. I have been the recipient of training and networking opportunities that allowed me to realize my dream of establishing a long-term banding project in Havana. I am happy that I can start to contribute and give back to the amazing community that has fostered and nurtured my dreams.
Help us with your generous donations to continue changing lives through the power of our community!!
