Hi!

I am Adrianne, an Avian Ecologist from Puerto Rico, and President of BirdsCaribbean. Our mission is to raise awareness and empower local partners to build a region where people appreciate and conserve birds through science, education, and on-the-ground conservation.

We are fundraising to support the participation of Caribbean wildlife professionals and students in our 24th International Conference, which will be celebrated in the Dominican Republic from 18-22 July 2024.

Your sponsorship will provide capacity building opportunities to members and partners of our community that work tirelessly to protect our unique Caribbean avifauna.

WE DID IT—And it’s all thanks to you!!❤️

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for another spectacular #GlobalBigDay!🥰 We are SO proud to announce that this has been our biggest Big Day ever. And it’s all because of you!!💖

In a truly record-shattering year, 2024 saw us host more teams (29—12 up from 17 in 2023); spot more unique species (1354, from 1146 in 2023); and in a real coup for citizen science across the islands, we had a huuge leap in the number of checklists submitted—2755 total, nearly 1,000 more than last year—phenomenal!!!🤯 The icing on the cake? You also helped us raise more funds for scholarships for deserving Caribbean conservationists than ever before!

305 generous supporters like yourself joined us and donated an incredible $25,007 for Caribbean representation at #BirdsCaribDR2024!! We cannot express how deeply grateful we are to each and every one of you! Because of your wonderful generosity, along with sponsorships and support from other amazing funders, we are proud to be able to award funding to 63 stellar Caribbean delegates!! We can’t wait to greet these dedicated students and conservationists in Santo Domingo, and to work with them to advance avian conservation across the region!

We’ve received so many applications for support from phenomenal candidates across the islands and we want to stretch our ambitions to accommodate them as far as possible. To do this, we need to raise more than our initial goal of $25,000—we are increasing our goal to $30K and we hope that you will consider supporting us once more. Thank you for standing by our side, and for believing in our mission to love and protect our precious Caribbean birds and the habitats they depend on.

This was our biggest and best GBD Teams Competition and Fundraiser yet—the most teams, species observed, checklists, etc. But we need your data to show this!!! So don’t delay—get those awesome checklists entered and shared now!

This year we had a record-breaking 29 teams participating🤯—thank you to each and every single one of you!!💖 We are deeply grateful for our incredible community. We must give a special shout out to our Team Leaders who stepped up to represent their island/countries without hesitation and were with us every step of the way🙌—recruiting and helping team members, setting up their trip reports, bringing the energy and excitement, accepting checklists, and fundraising for #GlobalBigDayBirdsCarib.

This is your reminder that you have until Wednesday 15th May at midnight to submit your #GBD2024 checklists and share with your Teams!🗒️ Tell us about all of your exciting sightings!!😁 There are 2 super simple ways to do this: get on your team’s eBird Trip Report, or via checklist sharing. We hope that all is going well and according to plan! We know that some of you have been up before the crack of dawn so we’re here to remind you to take a few minutes to rest, hydrate 💧 and grab a quick bite.
