Story
Welcome to BDS Giving Day page, a fundraising day supporting the annual fund!
On Tuesday, December 14 for 24 hours, we are asking current families, alumni, parents of alumni, trustees, faculty, grandparents and friends to help sustain our mission to inspire and challenge every student. Belmont Day is a bold, remarkable, inspiring community of learners and leaders. Every day we come together to guide the social, academic, and artistic lives of our students, grounded in the six values of excellence, respect, honesty, responsibility, caring, and joy. Belmont Day has grown and continues to grow to meet the needs of our student body and a dedicated faculty and staff.
Every gift – no matter its size – will be a joyful shout out to:

Since 1927, our community—faculty, trustees, parents, alumni, parents of alumni, grandparents, and special friends—have generously supported Belmont Day School and the education it provides for every student. Our students are encouraged to have intellectual curiosity, honor differences, and empower meaningful contribution with excellence, respect, honesty, responsibility, caring, and joy. Throughout our history, Belmont Day has had a strong culture of giving to ensure that it can continue to deliver an education that inspires and challenges our students.
The Belmont Day Annual Fund consists of unrestricted gifts given every academic year by the entire school community to help meet needs in the yearly operating budget. The largest item supported is faculty and staff salaries and benefits including professional development. In addition, the annual fund provides funds for other needs such as new technology, financial aid, diversity and inclusion initiatives, and new curricula.
The tuition of an independent school rarely covers the actual cost of the education for each student. This is true at Belmont Day. On average, the annual cost of a Belmont Day School education is $5,00 above the cost of tuition. Schools strive to keep tuition within reach of most families and work to find other sources of income. The gap is filled in large part through generous donations from our community members—parents, alumni, grandparents, faculty, foundations, and friends.
The annual fund ensures that educational programs and thoughtful investments in faculty and facilities are maintained and strengthened for future years. The school relies on gifts of all sizes to bridge the gap between what tuition covers and the cost of a Belmont Day education. Your gift has a direct impact on our school and our students. We are grateful for your support and commitment to Belmont Day!
