About the Campaign

Rest is not a luxury — it’s essential.

Women of color artists often carry the weight of multiple jobs, caregiving responsibilities, and systemic barriers in the art world. They are underrepresented in galleries, underfunded in grants, and underpaid for their work — yet their voices are essential.

This campaign is creating something rare: a full-day artist retreat in Arizona, free of cost to the artists.

A luxury home will serve as a safe, restorative space.
20 artists will gather for a day of rest, creativity, and community.
Artists will have access to optional breakout sessions: professional development workshops, precision acrylic art, headshots, and more.
Rest and wellness will be prioritized with yoga, sound bowls, and quiet spaces to create or simply breathe.
Each artist will receive a shared meal and materials to support their creative practice.

Shared Investment: Artists + Community

This retreat is offered at no cost to artists, but each artist is invited to make a small personal commitment to honor their participation:

💵 A sliding-scale contribution ($10–$25) toward retreat supplies/incidentals, OR
🎁 A “bring-something” contribution (creative tools, books, or supplies that strengthen our collective resource library), OR
🌱 A “teach-something” contribution (offering a skill, practice, or short activity that nurtures the group’s creativity or wellness).

Your donation ensures that beyond these small gestures, artists have access to luxury space, meals, professional workshops, and restorative care — all fully covered.

Why This Matters

The science is clear: rest fuels creativity. Neuroscience shows that downtime helps the brain form new connections, leading to deeper insights and more innovative ideas. Without rest, creativity stalls.

But for women of color artists, rest is often out of reach. Costly spaces, financial pressures, and systemic inequities leave little time or resources for restoration. This retreat is an intentional act of care and equity: providing space, resources, and rest that have historically been denied.
