1. Matanot LaEvyonim (Each Adult Sends 2 Gifts To The Poor. This can be any amount, but should be at least the value of 2 Mishloach Manot.) We Estimate $50 Per Gift so it's $100/Adult

2. MaChatzit HaShekel (Each Member In Household Gives .33 oz of Silver To Be Given To Poor). Silver Prices have increase to $82/oz, so the cost of 0.33/oz is $27 per Family Member.

3. Mishloach Manot (Each Adult Sends To Someone)

Matanot La'Evyonim Mitzvah:

The Importance of Matanot La’Evyonim

The Rambam (Chapter 2 of Hilchot Megillah) writes: “(Re: Mishloach Manot) One must send one’s friend two portions of meat or two cooked foods or two food items, as the verse states, ‘And sending portions to one another,’ which means two potions to one person. The more friends one sends to, the more praiseworthy one is. (Re: Matanot LaEvyonim) One must also distribute monetary gifts or food items to the poor on Purim day, no less than one gift to two poor people, as the verse states, ‘And gifts to the poor’. It is more important for one to distribute more gifts to the poor than to spend a large amount on one’s feast or send food portions to many friends, for there is no greater and more splendid joy than gladdening the hearts of the poor, orphans, widows, and converts; one who gladdens these downtrodden souls is comparable to the holy presence of Hashem Himself, as the verse states, ‘To revive the spirit of the downtrodden and to revive the soul of the oppressed.’”

NOTE:

The obligation is on the parents and children in the household (12+ YO GIRLS, 13+ YO BOYS), to give at least two portions of cooked food.

EXAMPLE:

Mitzvah of 1 Person = 2 x 75 Shekel (approx. $50) = 150 Shekel

Mitzvah for 5 members of your family = 10 x 75 Shekel = 750 shekel (approx. $250).

$250 = 5 of your family members fulfilled Mitzvah obligation by feeding 1 family of poor Avrechim in Israel

Machatzit HaShekel Mitzvah

“Speak to the Children of Israel and let them take for Me a portion, from every man whose heart motivates him you shall take My portion.” (Exodus 25:2)

The Mitzvah of Machatzit HaShekel is an opportunity for us to help the poor religious families we know in Eretz Yisrael.

Each Machatzit HaShekel (lit. half HaShekel) is the equivalent of .33 of an ounce of Silver, which is approximately $27.00/Family Member. Some have the custom of giving 3x per person (i.e. $81/Family Member) because the word TeRumah appears three times in the verse pertaining to Machatzit HaShekel (Exodus 30:11-16)

Note:

The obligation is for each person in household (adult and/or child)

Example:

1. If each person gives Machatzit Hashekel

(Family Of 5 = $27 x 5 = $135).

2.If each person gives 3x Machatzit Hashekel (Teruma Segula)

(Family Of 5 = $81 x 5 = $405).

WE COULDN'T TAKE THE RISK of not having food for the poor Tzadikim in time for Purim, so we already set up funds for our team & vendors in israel to get things going. 500 Avrechim Will be learning Torah on Purim on your behalf, and each will recieve a stipend to help them with the holiday.

We've distributed about $350,000 during the past four Purims. Our goal is to reach that total this year. Help us cancel the difficult decrees on Am Yisrael today.
