The Big Sister Little Sister (BSLS) Mentoring Program is a Black-founded and led organization that develops programs, workshops, and bridges the gap for personal and professional advancement for women and youth. We also implement a unique focus on self – self empowerment, self-esteem, self-motivation, and self-actualization to ensure we grow the number of youth and women of color in underrepresented fields while diminishing the fear of negotiation, interviewing, ownership and more.

We are building a movement that encourages underserved communities and women to be a voice and speak up about their boundaries and value both personally and professionally. BSLS works to reduce racial and gender inequalities across a diverse of industries where representation of women and girls are being underrepresented, and entrepreneurship affecting the advancement of Black women, girls, and their communities. We address the disparities by our methods of influence: 1. Mentorship, 2. Education, 3. Sisterhood, and 4. Community. Our vision is to decrease the wage gap ratio that women are paid by ensuring they have the access to the resources to bridge skills gaps, increase self-perception, empower women, accelerate career trajectories, increase negotiation skills and the attainment of higher education.

BSLS programs and workshops encompasses layers that address the following five goals:

1. Reduce college attrition rates for women and girls

2. Instill necessary skills to dominate their field of choice and beyond

3. Grow lifetime leaders

4. Cultivate and nurture a sisterhood across differing cultural identities

5. Improve society to create a healthy environment in every aspect (socially, emotionally, creatively, academically, mentally, physically, financially, and environmentally)

BSLS is a safe-environment where our members have a support system, feel respected, are valued, and are equipped to be equitable on the same platforms as their counterparts.
