Our Story: Behind The Smiles – The Darius Roberts Foundation

At Behind The Smiles, we are dedicated to breaking the silence surrounding mental health and suicide prevention. Our foundation was created in loving memory of Darius “Donny Marvo” Roberts — a bright, talented young man and the beloved son of our Founder and CEO, Kristi Roberts. Darius tragically lost his life to suicide in January 2023, revealing just how much pain can be hidden behind even the brightest smiles.

Each year, we honor Darius’ legacy by hosting our Annual Mental Health Community Day — a powerful event filled with healing, connection, and awareness. Held every November in celebration of his birthday, this day serves as both a tribute to his life and a reminder to celebrate life itself.

Through music therapy, art, fitness, pet therapy, and access to mental health resources, we bring the community together to promote emotional well-being and show that no one has to suffer in silence.

This event is completely free to the public, but it takes resources to make it happen. Your donation will help us cover everything from therapy workshops and youth engagement activities to guest artists, wellness supplies, and community support services.
