Funds raised will support delivery of our year-round, tuition-free program and enrollment expansion as we engage students in younger grades this year.

The Breakthrough program is critical for both students and teachers — year after year and most especially as school communities recover from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our year-round academic and co-curricular enrichment program runs tuition-free for middle school students in public, parochial, and charter schools all across Philadelphia. For our student teaching fellows, we also provide professional development, stipends and housing. Our program is hosted on the campus of Germantown Friends School.

Breakthrough Students and Teaching Fellows will benefit tremendously from your support. We hope you will join us on May 24th to celebrate our students, families, teaching fellows and the power of education in transforming lives!

Breakthrough of Greater Philadelphia is an independent 501(c)(3) committed to equity and diversity in education. Our program helps launch highly-motivated and traditionally underrepresented middle school students on a path to competitive high schools. We also provide pre-professional teacher training for college students pursuing careers in teaching, with the goal of building a more diverse and talented educator workforce. Since our founding in 1995, we have served over 1,300 students and 400 teachers-in-training ("Teaching Fellows").

****GCC requires proof of vaccination. All attendees should bring their vaccination card or proof of a negative PCR test result taken 24-48 hours prior to the event.****
