The United States has the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations, and Black women are three times more likely to die from pregnancy-related causes than white women.

Here in Alabama, the crisis is even more urgent. With a maternal mortality rate of 38.6 per 100,000 live births—double the national average—Alabama ranks third worst in the country.

For many women, healthcare gaps, financial struggles, and lack of support create dangerous situations during pregnancy and birth. Too often, mothers are unheard, dismissed, and left to navigate one of the most vulnerable times in their lives alone.
