We are excited to announce the expansion of Believe Music Heals (BMH) programs, bringing the healing power of music to even more lives! This fall, we launched a 20-week ‘Finding Your Voice’ Advanced Music Program at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. We are also thrilled to share that a brand-new hospice music initiative with By the Bay Health Hospice will begin in March 2025.

To make these transformative programs possible, we need your support! Our goal is to raise $25,000 to fund critical components of these initiatives, from staffing and supplies to production and recording.

Transforming Lives Through Music at San Quentin

This November, we launched two ‘Finding Your Voice’ Music Programs - for 15 residents each - at San Quentin Rehabilitation Center. We are welcoming newcomers into a beginners program as well as graduates of our pilot program to continue honing their craft in our first ever advanced class. Building on the success of our initial program, these 20-week initiatives empower participants to embark on a deeply personal and creative journey. These next sessions of the ‘Finding Your Voice’ Music Program will serve 30 residents (in total) at San Quentin.

Participants will learn:

Breathwork and Mindfulness
Healthy Vocal Training
Guitar and Ukulele Technique
Songwriting
Instrumental Skills
Professional Recording Techniques

The programs will culminate in the creation of two professionally recorded albums, featuring original songs written and performed by the residents. This powerful legacy will not only transform participants' lives but also inspire others through the stories shared in their music.

Expanding Horizons: Music for Hospice Patients

In March 2025, Believe Music Heals will launch a music program in partnership with By the Bay Health Hospice, serving patients in Marin and San Francisco counties. This program will bring the comfort and connection of music to those navigating life’s most challenging moments.

Participants will engage in meaningful, creative activities guided by trained BMH team members, offering an outlet for self-expression, connection, and joy.

There will be two musical offerings:

Bedside Concerts for those who wish to experience the healing power of music but are unable or choose not to make music themselves.
Finding Your Voice Program, offering to empower individuals to learn to sing, play instruments, write songs, tell their stories, and create recordings. Each artistic journey will be unique and tailored to the individuals specific interests, skills, and inspirations.

Cancer CAREpoint Sessions: Weekly music therapy sessions for individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
Ligaya Day Services Program: One-on-one sessions for individuals, as well as continuing education for special needs adults with learning and psychological challenges.
