October 26th update: Hello friends! We are hosting another bench building party on November 15th again at Riverside Commons at 9am. Everyone is welcome to join us, no woodworking experience needed!

Every $35 donated builds one bench, providing a place to sit for countless people, we have already placed 50 benches across Nashville and hope to build about 30 more at this next party.

September 1st update: We’re upping our goal because the more benches the better! This will also allow for some paint and signage supplies and, of course, more places to sit.

Where have all the benches gone, and where all the seats? Under the guise of “beautification,” the City of Nashville is systematically removing public benches from bus stops and public spaces. This hostile architecture isn't about beauty; it's designed to deny our unhoused neighbors a basic human need—a place to sit and rest. It sends a cruel message: you are not welcome here.

We believe a city’s true beauty is measured by its compassion. That’s why we’re taking action.

We invite you to a community Bench Building Party on Saturday, September 20th, at 9:00 AM. We will gather to build simple, sturdy wooden benches from lumber and screws. These benches will be placed where they are needed most, offering a moment of respite and a measure of dignity to our fellow Nashvillians.

This is a direct response to a need we can all see. We need your support to purchase materials. Every $35 donated builds one bench, providing a place to sit for countless people.
