Sleeping rough, which refers to the practice of sleeping in public spaces, is a particularly visible form of homelessness.

In the United States, the annual Point-in-Time Count in 2025 found that there were approximately 860,000 people experiencing homelessness on any given night - 296,000 of which were sleeping rough. Approximately 7000 to 8000 people sleep "rough" on the streets of Dallas/Fort Worth every night.

This year, on FRIDAY NOVEMBER 6th 2026 Metro Relief and GATEWAY CHURCH Frisco will host "The World's Big Sleep Out" - Metro Relief is committed to addressing homelessness in the Metroplex through our person-centered, mobile-first approach. We know the importance of our community's understanding of the complex challenges our friends face. The Big Sleep Out was born out of this idea. What we will experience in one night is just a glimpse into the daily reality of many of our friends.

Metro Relief and Gateway have set a goal to raise $50,000 before and on the night of the Big Sleep Out, and we ask that you aim to raise at least $200 personally through your unique profile. Share your link with friends and family to get everyone involved. Raise MORE ...and MORE lives are impacted!

Restrooms available on site. You are just required to bring a ground sheet or cardboard and a sleeping bag.
