Phoenixville's Garden Tour grew out of a thoughtful moment of care and creativity. In 2022, Janice and Dan, planners of Phoenixville's Holiday House Tour imagined a Covid-safe way for the community to gather and enjoy beautiful spaces again. What began as an alternative quickly became a welcome breath of fresh air for longtime House Tour supporters who had missed that shared experience.

The Phoenixville Green Team and Phoenixville Area Transition are grateful to carry this tradition forward.

Last year’s tour was a joyful success, sparking excitement and revealing just how many beautiful, thoughtfully tended gardens are tucked throughout Phoenixville. This year, we’re especially inspired by the idea that our gardens can be more than beautiful. They can also be living, thriving habitats.

Across the world, biodiversity is in decline, affecting the systems that support clean air, water, and the health of our landscapes. Yet even small home gardens can play a meaningful role in restoring that balance.

One of the most visible and delightful signs of a healthy garden is the presence of birds. Because they are so sensitive to environmental change, birds act as quiet indicators of a garden’s well-being. A diversity of bird life often reflects a rich and balanced ecosystem, while their absence can signal that something is out of sync. At the same time, birds are active participants, helping control insects, disperse seeds, and keep the cycles of life moving.

Many of the gardens featured on this tour embrace these ideas, each in their own way. And that is part of the spirit of this tour. It is not meant to be a test or a measure of what anyone “should” be doing. Rather, it is an invitation. A chance to share, to learn from one another, and to discover new, practical ways we can all help care for the places we call home.

As these gardens show, small changes can make a meaningful difference. A few more native plants, a little less lawn, a bit more attention to what lives and grows around us, and suddenly a space begins to hum with life.

We’re delighted to share these gardens with you, and to celebrate not only their beauty, but their generosity.

2026 Special Prize Opportunity

In 2026, any garden in Greater Phoenixville that earns recognition as a Bird Habitat Recognition Program through the Pennsylvania Audubon Council will have its $30 application fee reimbursed by the Phoenixville Green Team.

That means your commitment to birds comes with a little bonus.

The Pennsylvania Audubon Council, in partnership with local Audubon chapters and Bird Town PA, invites you to participate in the Bird Habitat Recognition Program. This recognition program encourages homeowners, renters, and community gardeners to rethink yards, balconies, and shared green spaces. The goal is simple. Create a functional habitat that is beautiful for people and genuinely beneficial for birds. Your space does not have to be large. It simply needs to provide thoughtful elements such as native plants, shelter, water, and safe nesting areas.
