What: A volunteer day to support Black Futures Farm with weeding, harvesting, planting, or any other work they need help with. We also will be learning about the organization's work, why it's important, and how we can continue to support this cause.
When: Saturday, September 9, 2023, 8:30am-12:30pm
Afterward, the Litas Portland will be hosting their Second Saturday ride from this location (open to Litas only)
Where: Black Futures Farm, 6745 SE 60th Street, Portland OR 97206
How to get there: Black Futures Farm is located at 6745 SE 60th Ave, within the Learning Gardens Lab site, which is to the left of the PPS building if you are driving south on 60th ave. There is a parking lot and a large gate and then about 20 feet to the left of it is a smaller gate. Please park on the street and walk through the small gate with the Learning Gardens Lab vinyl sign on the gate. You will then follow the wood chip path all the way to the farm.
What to bring: Water bottle, sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses), your own gloves if you have them, a bagged lunch if you would like to join us for the education/discussion hour. BFF will provide tools, instruction, and gloves for those who did not bring their own.
What to wear: We recommend wearing cool clothing that protects your skin and can get dirty. Please wear closed toed shoes such as work boots that are waterproof, durable rain boots, or sneakers.
What to expect (subject to change):
8:30am - Introduction to the farm and instructions on what to do
9-11:30am - Volunteer activities
11:30am-12:30pm - Lunch and educational discussion
12:30pm - Litas depart on Second Sunday ride; ride routes will be provided for others who also want to ride
