Last week, we finally got our answer. A massive growth was discovered in Earl's intestine. For three consecutive days, we were at the veterinarian searching for answers. On Thursday, Earl underwent emergency surgery. Our incredible veterinarian began with an exploratory procedure but recognized that the location of the mass required a specialist with more advanced surgical experience. And for that, we are forever grateful. Great medicine isn't about pretending to have all the answers. It's about knowing when to ask for help. Earl was rushed to a specialty hospital, where an entire team stayed late to save his life.

The night before surgery, I treated it as though it might be Earl's last night on earth. I sat with him, loved on him, and tried to memorize every moment. I'll never forget that night. Today, just one week later, Earl is still here. He's recovering. He's healing. He's free.
