Last year, we served 96 families, offering not just temporary relief but a pathway to enduring success.

A Second Chance for R and His Son

When R first came to Family Housing Network, he wasn't just experiencing homelessness—he was battling addiction while trying to care for his young son. Like many parents facing unimaginable challenges, he wanted a better life for his child but wasn't sure how to get there.

Despite the support of his case manager, addiction got the better of him, and R left the program. For many families, that could have been the end of the story. But Family Housing Network didn't close the door. Instead, we made sure R knew that when he was ready, we would be here.

After completing rehabilitation, R returned to Family Housing Network with a determination to rebuild his life. At Sherwood House, he and his son found more than a safe place to sleep—they found hope, stability, and people who believed in them. With guidance from his case manager, R learned to manage his finances, update his resume, search for employment, and create a plan for the future. Step by step, he began to move forward. He secured a good job. He paid off debt. He built savings.

Most importantly, he gave his son something every child deserves: a place to call home.

Today, R and his son are thriving in their own apartment. Through Family Housing Network's retention program and ongoing support, they have remained stably housed for more than a year.

Last year, our Breakfast of Champions guests had the privilege of hearing R and his son share their journey. There wasn't a dry eye in the room. Their story is a powerful reminder that homelessness is not a permanent identity. With support, compassion, and a community willing to invest in families, lives can be transformed.
