Invest in the next generation of ICHS scientists and leaders. The Immaculate Conception High School Alumnae Association New York Chapter is raising $40,000 to modernize the school's science laboratories. Ad Astra per Aspera.

Where It Starts

For generations, Immaculate Conception High School has sent graduates into medicine, engineering, environmental science, and research. Nearly every one of those careers began at a laboratory bench in Kingston.

Those benches have served decades of past students. The Science Laboratory Renovation Project will replace windows, furniture, and electrical supply; install a new fume extractor and water distillation station; modernize equipment against the science department's own curriculum list; and integrate smart boards and reliable internet creating a lab that is safe, current, and built for hands-on discovery.

This is a school-wide initiative, and alumnae everywhere (Jamaica, Florida, Toronto, International) are behind it. The New York Chapter has committed to raising $40,000.

You Remember the Room

You remember the smell of it. The gas taps. The scarred wooden benches, the stool that wobbled, the sink at the back that never quite drained. You remember standing over a burner in your uniform, waiting for something to change color, and the moment it did.

Some of us walked out of that room and into medicine. Into engineering, environmental science, research. Into careers that started with a single experiment that worked.

That room is still there. The same benches. The same taps. Fifty years of girls have leaned over them, and it shows.

What Needs Renovations

ICHS is renovating its science laboratories, and the work is specific:

New workstations and furniture throughout every lab classroom
Proper ventilation and safe chemical storage to meet modern standards
A working fume extractor and water distillation station
Replaced windows, repainted classrooms, upgraded electrical supply
Current microscopes, digital measurement tools, and apparatus — quoted directly against the science department's own list
Smart boards, data collection tools, and reliable internet

Not cosmetic. Structural. A lab a girl can actually learn in.

We Have Done This Before

Since 1985, the New York Chapter of the Alumnae Association has been funding initiatives the directly support the students:

Building Fund and Computer Labs - early investment in the school's physical and technical infrastructure
Two minibuses, purchased in the early 1990s and still remembered by every girl who rode them. A contribution to the 2025 bus purchase.
Robotics, introduced in 2016 - now three clubs, with our students competing in Washington DC, Mexico City, Dubai, Geneva, Singapore, and Athens
Penn Relays - over ten consecutive years housing the ICHS Track and Field team in Philadelphia
Model United Nations - sponsoring the student delegation's trip to New York
Solar Panel Project - cutting the school's dependence on the grid
Scholarships - the Sheila Holtham Murray Scholarship, the Sr. Angella Harris OSF Memorial Scholarship, and a five-year Anniversary Scholarship carrying a girl from 7th grade forward: fees, transportation, food, and a laptop
JA$3,811,960 delivered to the school through the 30 in 30 Campaign

Robotics put our girls on the world stage. The science labs are what feed that pipeline.

How You Can Give

Every gift is restricted to the Science Laboratory Renovation Project.

$25 - glassware and consumables
$50 - specimen and dissection supplies
$100 - one student's core instrument
$250 - seating and surface for a lab group
$500 - a full renovated bench station
$1,000 - Ambassador Circle
$2,500 - ventilation and distillation systems
$5,000 - Founding Benefactor

Become an Ambassador

Click Become a Fundraiser and you get your own page - your name, your link, your progress bar. Ten friends at $100 gets you to $1,000. Give it, raise it, or split it.

Join your decade team. The 1980s against the 1990s is a fair fight, and the school wins either way.

Forty Ambassadors reach the goal. That is all this takes.

We can get this done together.
