2024 has been a tumultuous year on multiple scales, including in publishing and literary arts programming. In this time of multiple ongoing genocides, we continue to see the stifling, censoring, and repression of voices speaking truth to power. Throughout all of this, we maintain a steadfast commitment to uplifting the voices of marginalized artists and writers. In reflecting on this year, we are determined to fortify our mission and seek our community’s support to do so.

This September, we’re launching our fundraising campaign, "Commit to Artistic Liberation With Apogee," with the goal of raising $14,000 by September 30. The first $3,250 will be matched two-to-one by the Whiting Foundation as part of the Literary Magazine Prize, tripling the impact of your donation. Published Issue 19, featuring stunning art by Jonathan Lyndon Chase and powerful poetry including Janine Mogannam’s “Blood Moon Ghazal”
Advanced our Palestine solidarity series, and demonstrated our commitment to standing with Palestinian artists and writers in a time of increased repression and broken trust by literary orgs
Raised our contributor honoraria across all genres
Welcomed our first incarcerated editors to launch Freedom Meridian, a series featuring incarcerated writers
