About the Event

Across the Central Coast – from city government to the state legislature – we’re seeing the results of our hard work in electing and reelecting elected officials that represent our values! In our base cities – Santa Maria, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oxnard, and Santa Paula – we’re helping recruit, train, and elect leaders who truly represent our communities and values.

We can't wait to celebrate and continue building local electoral power from the grassroots up alongside you!

At our reception we'll honor some leaders at the heart of our work and raise the funds we need to keep this work going. Because of your support, our base of working-class Latino families, immigrants, and communities of color can be – and often are – the margin of victory.

We are the political home of the working class – standing up to big corporations and billionaires and fighting for livable wages and affordable rents, and not letting our communities be divided along racial lines. This true, neighborhood-level organizing – needed now more than ever – takes insight, time, money, and deep community trust –

🎀 Announcing Our Corazón Award Recipient: Primitiva Hernandez!

About Primitiva

Primitiva Hernandez is the Executive Director of 805UndocuFund, serving Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. An immigrant from Mexico and a DACA recipient, she has lived in the California Central Coast since childhood and is the daughter of farmworker parents. Her personal experience as an undocumented college student and working parent fuels her dedication to immigrant rights and supporting the undocumented community. With over ten years of leadership experience in the nonprofit sector and local housing authorities, Primitiva was recently recommended to join the Hispanas Organized for Political Equity Institute. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Studies from Antioch University Santa Barbara and an Associate’s Degree from Santa Barbara City College.

About the Corazón Award

The Corazón Award is CAUSE Action Fund’s annual opportunity to highlight leaders who have dedicated decades of their life and talent to the work of progressive political movement building. Hence the name of the award “Corazón” or “Heart.” It takes a heart rooted in social justice to compel us to not only keep going but to do so in a way that continually builds and expands collective power to make political and institutional change that impacts the lives and communities for generations to come.
