In Afghanistan, he fought through two brutal ambushes.

Even after being knocked unconscious by a rocket-propelled grenade, he regained control, returned fire, and called in airstrikes that saved his team.

Days later, after being shot, Dean refused pain meds so he could stay sharp—because his team wasn’t out yet.

"His last words to the support aircraft were to please be sure his team got out of there safely.”

Today, Dean and his family are facing a different kind of fight.

Preliminary reports indicate that Dean has suffered a brain bleed. He’s been moved to a higher-care facility in Plano, over an hour from home.

The Conner family is navigating life in hospitals, miles from home, and the weight of this hardship is growing by the day.
