Maren Needs Heart Surgery

Today I took sweet Maren to Evolution Veterinary Specialists to see a cardiologist after another vet heard a heart murmur.

Within seconds of listening, Dr. Lake-Bakaar knew exactly what was going on — and an echocardiogram confirmed it. Maren has what’s called a PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus).

That means there’s a small vessel in her heart that never closed after birth — basically, a hole that causes blood to flow the wrong way. If it isn’t repaired soon, it will lead to heart failure and ultimately be fatal.

The good news? Dr. Lake-Bakaar can fix it!

We just need to raise $5,000 and the surgery must happen within the next 3 weeks.

Maren is already in a loving foster home, where she’s getting all the care and comfort she needs before and after her surgery — she just needs this life-saving procedure to make it to her happily ever after.
