WHAT IS TOUCH A TRUCK?!

We’re glad you asked!

Touch a Truck is an event that invites community members of all ages to learn more and interact with community vehicles, such as fire trucks, police vehicles, tractors, earthmovers, and more! You will also get to meet the experts who operate these machines!

CAN MY CHILD ACTUALLY TOUCH THE TRUCKS?

Yes. This isn't an auto show viewed from a distance. We want this event to be as experiential and playful as possible. Every vehicle will have an operator to share information and supervise the experience.

CAN I DUNK A HERO?

Yes, we have a dunking booth with members of the law enforcement community. $5 for three attempts or $25 to dunk someone automatically. This year it's POLICE vs. FIRE!

WHO CAN I DUNK?

IS THERE A SENSORY HOUR?

Yes, from 9 am - 10am, we will have a calm environment with no horns or sirens. Presented by Activekidz & Adult Therapy.

IS THIS A FUNDRAISER?

Yes, all proceeds benefit the Children's Museum of Rome.

WHERE DO I SIGN THE WAIVER?

All attendees must sign the liability waiver before entering the event. Children under 18 must have the waiver signed by a parent or guardian.

Children's Museum of Rome

is a 501 c(3) organization seeking to bring hands-on and interactive learning to the Rome/Floyd Area. This will be an incredible asset to Rome, but we need YOUR help!

Why does Rome need a Children’s Museum?

Play is essential to learning
Limited opportunities within 35 miles
Rome & Floyd County have 13,000 kids under age 12

What might the museum look like?

Imagine curious children experiencing a replica of what makes Rome, GA, such a special community. They connect with our beloved landmarks and businesses, learning about baking, banking, farming, and firefighters. They practice caring for a sick animal, changing a flat tire, and the importance of preventative medicine. They splash their friends in a water table shaped like the Coosa River and climb to the scenic view atop the Clocktower.

Each exhibit tells a story, reflecting how a community thrives when we all work together. The permanent and special event exhibits encourage STEAM play and a love of northwest Georgia. We want to spark imagination and creativity in a safe, fun, hands-on learning environment.

Our Vision

Our vision is to open a fully functioning Children's Museum by end of summer of 2026.

Our Core Values

INTERACTIVE PLAY: We believe that learning should be FUN! Play is an essential part of a child's development. We hope to create an environment that encourages laughter, imagination, and hands-on exploration. Exhibits and programming will encourage children to participate, ask questions, and explore their interests!
COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP: By working with the community, we can have a stronger impact on children at a young age. Our exhibits are made possible by key parts of Rome/Floyd. Teaching children about different aspects of a community will give them insight into how a community functions, the different roles, and the responsibilities of citizens and workers.
EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: Our environment will encourage critical thinking, curiosity, and problem-solving! Each exhibit/ program seeks to implement STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and math) principles to foster a love of learning.
ACCESSIBLE TO ALL: We are dedicated to creating a space that is accessible to all children, regardless of abilities or background. We strive to provide accommodations to ensure every child can fully participate and enjoy their visit.
