The Catskill Symphony Orchestra celebrates Halloween with an evening that proves classical music is playful, accessible, and undeniably alive. The concert begins with Hector Berlioz's Danse Macabre, where the French master's atmospheric orchestration conjures the supernatural with eerie strings, mischievous woodwinds, and dramatic percussion—bringing skeletons and spirits vividly to musical life. The evening then ventures into contemporary popular territory with the Harry Potter Suite, a composition that adds thrilling new colors to the orchestral palette while proving that the music we love in film and fantasy belongs in the concert hall.

Following intermission, the concert reaches its pinnacle with Michael Jackson's Thriller and other cinematic highlights including the unforgettable Ghostbusters Theme and Modest Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain—a rousing orchestral showstopper. These works showcase the orchestra's full dramatic power and theatrical flair, guiding audiences through an evening of musical surprises, playful energy, and genuine thrills. From the haunting to the hilarious, the orchestra demonstrates that orchestral music can be spooky, fun, and surprising all at once.

The evening presents three distinct musical voices—Berlioz's Gothic atmosphere, contemporary film scores, and the orchestra's theatrical brilliance—united by their shared commitment to making classical music joyful, inclusive, and undeniably entertaining. Costumes welcome!
