Candi was a devoted mother, advocate, and ally to the Deaf community. She was all in. Her departure is a devastating loss for her family and for all of us who knew her. She was 52 years young.

Deaf Focus, under its former and current parent organizations, ILEEAD and the Louisiana Association of the Deaf, deeply valued and appreciated Candi's work. She was present in virtually all of our events and training during her tenure with us. She also had a role in the passage of several state legislations benefitting the deaf community for generations. Her passion for advocating access to language and communication, personally and professionally, was unmatched. She has touched many lives.

We have been requested by the Latino family to host Candi's memorial for the community, and we want to give her the celebration and tribute she deserves, honor her memory, and say our last goodbyes. We have started a memorial fundraiser to assist Candi's husband, Joe, and their son, Ari, with some of the final expenses during this difficult time. We are reaching out to the community to step in and consider donating if you can. We are grateful for every donation. Any additional funds will be donated to a charity of Joe and Ari's choice.
