Everyone has a food story, and the founders of Chatham Marketplace co-op grocery brought daily access to healthy food to Chatham County more than 15 years ago. Our relationships with local producers and our owners are strong.

Your co-op is in a vulnerable cash position, with unanticipated expenses outpacing store sales due to the following:

Leadership and staff turnover.
Replacement of the broken produce cooler took most of our cash reserves.
A state-wide ABC clerical error resulted in a temporary lapse of our liquor license and a 10% decline in overall store sales for the month of June.
Increased grocery competition in Pittsboro has caused a 10% decline in revenue over the last year.
Tropical Storm Debby resulted in a loss of all cold and frozen food, which resulted in a $20,000 hit.
