In this dangerous world where a single choice can be fatal, precautionary testing is a lifeline that can prove the difference between life and death. Fentanyl has quietly become public enemy number #1 across student communities, remaining the leading cause of death for Americans aged 18-45 and responsible for over 70% of the 110,000 overdose deaths in America in 2022. Lethal in doses as small as 2mg, fentanyl is often mixed with recreational drugs and fake prescription pills unbeknownst to the user (think anything from fake Adderall and Xanax to cocaine and amphetamines), with recent DEA analysis showing approximately 70% of fake pills seized in 2023 contain a lethal dose.

Born in a dorm room nestled atop of Stanford’s greek row, ChemX began as a grassroots effort to distribute harm reduction materials to Stanford students, since blossoming into a campus-wide movement with nearly 200 residences partaking in our pilot drug safety program. Our approach is simple: by arming students with accessible resources in harm reduction, ChemX looks to cement precautionary drug testing as second-nature, ensuring that every substance is tested prior to its use and empowering individuals to make more informed decisions.

With your help, we are looking to raise $150,000 in order to deliver 50,000 free fentanyl test kits to students and universities by the start of the 2024/2025 academic year. Your generous donations will directly cover the cost of production and distribution for this initial run of test kits, ensuring that they remain entirely free to the students they serve. A donation of just $3.00 allows ChemX to produce and distribute a fentanyl test kit to a student in need.

Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We also are eligible to accept donations from Donor Advised Funds (DAFs). ChemX Project is a student-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit out of Stanford University, addressing the fentanyl epidemic among young adults and college students. Our goal is to keep friends alive by promoting drug safety, testing, and awareness in a community-first approach. ChemX provides students, schools, and young adults with the latest in harm reduction materials to best defend against the threat of fentanyl. Our current efforts are focused on arming students with accessible and innovative fentanyl test kits, NARCAN, and educational resources to help raise awareness and encourage safe drug practices, such as precautionary drug testing. By targeting a behavioral change in recreational and occasional drug users to make testing second-nature and commonplace, we seek to create a supporting community of knowledgeable risk-educated champions for drug safety.
