In the spring of 2001, Roger Akers embarked on a mission with his graduate class at SFA University. Their goal? To uncover prescription assistance options for low-income individuals. Little did they know that this endeavor would blossom into something extraordinary—the birth of Community RX Help.

Driven by compassion, Roger rallied a group of concerned citizens, including hospital administrators from Medical Center and Memorial Hospital. Together, they formed our board of directors. By October 2001, Community RX Help had earned its 501©3 tax-exempt status.

Fast forward over two decades, and our impact has been profound. Thousands of lives in Angelina, Nacogdoches, Shelby, and San Augustine counties have been touched by the medications we’ve helped them access. Each success story—a life saved, an illness managed—springs from voluntary acts of generosity.
