Rett syndrome is a serious, lifelong neurological disorder. Imagine the symptoms of autism, cerebral palsy, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, and anxiety disorder… all in one little child.

The symptoms are diagnosed primarily in girls and typically appear in toddlerhood. Many children with Rett cannot speak, walk, or use their hands. Breathing problems, feeding tubes, seizures, anxiety, and gastrointestinal and orthopedic issues are very common.

Despite the debilitating nature of Rett, our children are so much more than a laundry list of symptoms. Their beauty and their strength inspire and motivate us.

🧬 The Genetic Medicine Revolution:

Rare diseases will NOT cure themselves. De-risking the research and development of cutting-edge technologies falls on patient advocacy groups and nonprofits (like us). We HAVE to feed the genetic medicine pipeline by working with biopharma companies to help clear a path toward clinical trials and the production of cures.

Striking while the iron is hot is crucial to our success; there has never been more urgency. Advances in genetic medicines are happening at lightning speed, and Rett could be positioned to benefit significantly from that momentum. We want to be at the front of the line.
