Dragon Derby 2022 Official Rules & FAQ's
Event to be held Saturday September 10th, 2022 at the Wichita, Kansas Richard A. DeVore South YMCA at 3405 S Meridian, Wichita KS 67217 and live streamed via Facebook Live. In case of inclement weather, acts of God or other circumstances, Dragon Master Foundation (the Producer) reserves the right to postpone or reschedule the race, or determine winners by a random drawing, at its sole discretion.
This contest is being run exclusively by Dragon Master Foundation, and its Officers and Board members serve as judges. We anticipate some photo finishes. Ruling of the judges is final.
Last to Finish will be awarded to the last entry completing 1 lap. Entries that pass the finish line chute after completing a lap are disqualified from winning Last to Finish, but may still win their prize if they are a designated "special entry". In other words if they "escape" and take a second lap, they are not eligible for last place due to that accidental continuation around the Lazy River.
The Dragon Derby race will happen rain or shine. No entry fees will be refunded, as the event will proceed, either during rain or if weather is severe, at the next possible date, or via random drawing.
Must be 18 to enter. Ticket sales end at noon on Friday 9/9/2022.
Each entry (Dragon character or otherwise) will be randomly assigned to an entrant. We will be double randomizing. First the list of entries will be randomized, and then each dragon’s entry number will be randomized, and then matched to an entry.
Prize winners will be announced the night of the event, however no prizes will be awarded at the event. All winners will receive email notification by 5pm on 9/11/22, and prizes, when possible, will be mailed. Other prizes will have delivery arranged with the winner via email. Winner is responsible for any shipping charges above mailing a standard number 11 envelope.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st-10th Place and Last Place. Prizes and the finishing Place they will be awarded for will be announced on the GiveButter entry payment portal and in these official rules no later than Friday 9/16, but likely much earlier. Other prizes may be added.
Special Entries will have guaranteed winners, with a prize going to the entrant regardless of where the Special Entry places, are also part of the contest. Those Special Entries may also with one of the “Place” prizes. Not counting Special Entries, no winner may win more than one Place prize, and no winner may win more than 3 prizes, Place or Special Entry combined.
To date prizes include:

$200 cash for Fourth Place
$175 cash for Fifth Place
150 cash for Sixth Place
$125 cash for 7th Place
$100 cash for Eight Place
$75 cash for Ninth Place
$50 cash for Tenth Place
Even last place wins - $150 cash!
Winners are required to provide proper identification and social security number and will be subject to payment of applicable federal and state income taxes on the value of the prize. Such taxes are required to be paid prior to release of a prize to the prize winner.
By entering, winners consent to promotional use of their names and likeness without additional compensation.
No winner will receive more than one PLACE prize. You will be awarded the highest value prize of all of your entries. If two or more entries for one person finish in place prizes that are of equivalent value, the judges will decide which prize to award. Up to 3 total prizes may be awarded per person-One PLACE prize and up to 2 Special Entries.
Prizes will be awarded "as is" and no substitution of prizes will be permitted. Producer will have no liability with respect to any prize awarded.
Race entrants need not be present to win.
Board Members and staff of Dragon Master Foundation are not eligible to win.
If a winner does not come forward to claim the prize won within 30 days following the race, that prize will be forfeited and Producer will declare another winner for that prize, or DMF may retain the prize at their discretion.
Chances of winning depend on the total number of qualified entries.
By entering, entrants release the Producer, sponsors, employees and their officers, directors, staff and other related entities from any and all liability with respect to prizes and to bodily injury or damage to property on the event site and surrounding parking areas, whether or not due to negligence of the Producer, sponsors and their officers, directors, staff and other related entities.
This event is subject to all federal, state and local laws and is voided where prohibited by law.
Q- When is the Race?
A- The evening of Saturday September 10th, 2022 at the Wichita Kansas South YMCA. Doors open at 5pm. You must have a ticket to attend as we are limited to 200 guests and volunteers. Tickets are available at the same area on this site that you purchase entries.
Q- How much are the Dragons?
A- $10 for one, $25 for 3, $40 for 5, $75 for 10, $100 for 15, $125 for 20 and $150 for 30.
Q- How many Dragons will race?
A- We have 3000 to start and will purchase more if needed. We do not have a maximum amount of entries.

Q- Do I get to keep my Dragon?
A- No, we plan on using them again next year! However if you come to the Live event you can have your pick of the entries for $5!
Q-Do I get to know my entry number ahead of the race.
A-We plan on publishing the complete list of Entry numbers and names shortly before the race.
Q- Can I come to the event?
A- This year, pending Sedgwick County Health Department guidance, we look forward to hosting attendees to watch the race in person. Tickets are limited to 200 participants and are only $10 which gets you access to some pool and slide time before the race! OR-- Watch it live on our Facebook Feed!
Q- Do I HAVE to attend or live in Kansas to win.
A- No. You can live anywhere in the US and enter and win.
Q- What are the Prizes?
A- Grand Prize of $1000 in cash, and we will have prizes for at least 10 winners. Prizes are still being secured. To become a prize sponsor email [email protected]
Q- Where does the money go?
A- To Dragon Master Foundation, a Wichita based 501(c)(3). We are an almost all volunteer organization, with only one part time staff member. Funding is currently going to clinical trials and to fund research through CBTN with our partner hospitals:
