In 2024, we have grown our team, widened our reach, and deepened our impact. Support from generous donors has enabled us to keep our communities safe, connected, and educated. Here’s how:

“We keep us safe” by protecting marginalized workers through securing immigration relief and fighting back against workplace abuse.

In 2024, we have taken on at least 30 cases, ranging from labor based deferred action (DALE) applications to supporting immigrant workers and organizers with labor complaints before federal labor agencies. This includes our very first mediation before the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission (EEOC) on behalf of a victim of workplace sexual assault.

“We keep us connected” by sharing ideas, tools, and strategies with values-aligned partners to strengthen an ecosystem of support for immigrant workers in Georgia and the Deep South.

In 2024, we provided 5 train-the-trainer workshops to our network of grassroots organizers, community-based organizations, worker centers, and national worker-justice hubs, including Dignidad Inmigrante en Athens, the Economic Justice Coalition, and Migrant Equity Southeast.

“We keep us educated” by creating and sharing educational tools, legal resources, and Know Your Rights (KYR) trainings that are language accessible, culturally responsive, and industry-specific.

In 2024, we reached more than 800 attendees through 17 KYR trainings and presentations and shared 18 multilingual popular education materials on social media about rights within the workplace and immigration relief available to immigrant workers! Our trainings included four trainings on Occupational Safety and Health for Georgia-based poultry workers and immigrant and worker rights organizers, funded by the Susan Harwood Capacity Building Pilot grant program.

We are calling upon our allies, stakeholders, friends, and community-members to support Sur Legal Collaborative in our immediate efforts to protect our clients and communities with an end-of-year donation of any amount.
