We’re so excited to celebrate the inaugural Give Like Dolly Day — a brand-new day of giving inspired by Dolly Parton’s extraordinary commitment to putting books into the hands of children.

Here in Portsmouth, that mission has already taken root in a big way.

ChainBreakers is proud to serve as the Local Program Partner for Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library of Portsmouth, providing children from birth to age five with a free, age-appropriate book mailed directly to their home every month.

When we launched the program in April 2026, we set an ambitious first-year goal: enroll 1,000 Portsmouth children.

We reached that milestone in just five months!

That is something worth celebrating!

Still there are nearly 6,000 more children under age five in Portsmouth who are eligible, which means there are thousands more little readers we want to reach.

Every child enrolled in the Imagination Library can receive as many as 60 books before their fifth birthday. Month after month, those books help families build home libraries, create joyful reading routines, and give children a stronger foundation before they ever enter kindergarten.

And on this very first Give Like Dolly Day, you can be part of what happens next.

Your gift helps cover the direct cost of books and mailing for Portsmouth children enrolled in the program. It helps us welcome more children, keep books arriving in mailboxes every month, and move closer to our vision of a Portsmouth where every child can read and every neighborhood has the foundation to thrive.

Whether you give $10, $25, $50, or more, you are helping put books exactly where they belong — in a child’s hands, in a child’s home, and in the middle of a family’s story.

Let’s make the inaugural Give Like Dolly Day one to remember. Give like Dolly. Give a child the gift of reading.

Give Like Dolly!
