A circle of devoted Mamas and Aunties first gathered around a few questions:

What role does the Earth play in raising little ones?
How can we nurture the whole families well-being, so parents and caregivers can give their little one their best?
What does it mean to raise our children in community—with intention, with love, and with the earth beneath our feet?

From those visioning sessions, a shared dream began to take root: to co-create a Holistic Childcare Center at One Art Community Center in West Philadelphia—a neighborhood where access to safe, nurturing spaces for young children is too often out of reach.

Our vision is to build a space where families with children ages 0–5 can receive loving, holistic care in an earth-centered environment. One Art already serves teens and adults through wellness, arts, and cultural programming. Now, we want to extend that circle to our youngest ones—to plant and tend to the Sacred Seeds of our next generation.

This center will be more than childcare. It will be a community-rooted model of care that uplifts families, fosters resilience, and creates space for parents to heal, grow, and breathe. In a time where many families in West Philly face economic hardship, this project is about meeting real needs with real love—and building a future where every child and caregiver has room to thrive. We plan to adapt a sliding scale model to kepp costs low and keep this offering accessible to those who need it most.

To begin this journey, we are working to raise $100,000 to support the first steps: preparing the space, registering the center as a licensed childcare provider, and laying the foundation for a safe, welcoming environment.
