I've been a volunteer with the New York City Plover Project for the past three summers. We are so lucky here in NYC to have Piping Plovers nest on our beaches during the summer and I'm so grateful to be able to do this work on behalf of these incredible birds.
I've spent many hours on the beach in the role of plover protector, doing everything from providing outreach to beachgoers about the plovers and other nesting shorebirds to picking up trash to helping set up string fencing to monitoring nest sites.
I'm so proud to be part of NYCPP and am constantly amazed by the dedication and passion of my fellow volunteers.
