October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This year, we recognize that Survivors Are Everywhere.

If we look closer, it is likely that every person's life has been touched by domestic violence in some way. You could be a survivor yourself or maybe you know someone who has experienced violence. Or maybe there is a survivor in your life suffering in silence who is hoping to find that light and support they need to change their life. By acknowledging that survivors are everywhere, we hope to empower survivors to take back control of their life. We also want you to know your valuable role as an advocate in the community. By listening to survivors and believing their experience, you can be the catalyst a survivor needs to prioritize their health and safety.

This month, you can spread awareness about the realities of domestic violence and show survivors that support, safety, and healing are available to them. The Bay Area Women's Center is committed to offering free-of-charge services to anyone whose life has been impacted by domestic violence because no one deserves to live in fear, especially in their own home. You, the community advocate, are an important part of that work.

To access our Fundraiser Guide that takes you step-by-step through the registration process, click here.

We invite you to join us not only as an advocate, but also as a peer-to-peer fundraiser. By clicking the "Register" button, you can create a fundraising page, share your story, and invite friends to show up for survivors in our community. We ask for a small $25 donation to register your page. After you are registered*, we will send you a button to wear this month to spread awareness and also provide some handy fundraising tips and guides. All fundraisers are asked to raise $567 in recognition of the 567 survivors who utilized services at BAWC last year. That's only $1 per survivor. Your support ensures 24/7 access to safety and healing for survivors who are living through their darkest days.

Thank you for joining us in our mission to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault. Your advocacy helps survivors secure safety and reach goals they never thought possible. Your support saves lives. Thank you for being a crucial part of this work.

*If you have donated to BAWC online before or participated in our online silent auctions, you likely already have a GiveButter account! You can login with your email and password or use the forgot password option if needed. Your information will be saved from the last time you engaged with us.
