Kristin Slye is a psychotherapist, passionate about working with youth and families at her Truckee-based practice, The Uncovery Collective. Long before becoming a therapist (in 1988 and 1989 to be exact), she was a cheerleader for the San Francisco 49ers. She says, “Don’t expect it to give me a competitive advantage, because that was a really long time ago! Yet, we did win the SuperBowl those two years, so maybe I’m a good luck charm?” When not working, Kristin can be found hiking, XC skiing, reading, or daydreaming about what her son, Jake, is up to during his first year at UC Santa Cruz. She also loves hanging with her husband, Jeff, and their rescue dog, Matty.
She found Inner Rhythms several years ago through its U-JAM class. She likes to say, “I came for the exercise and neuroplasticity, but stayed for the fun and community that truly feels like family.” Having used dance (and just a wee bit of therapy) to heal and grow, she believes in the power of movement to help us become our most full selves. That’s why she is dancing with the stars – to raise funds so others have access to the thing that changed her life for the better.
