We all know that dancing can lift your spirits. But what if dancing could do even more?

A recent article in the Journal of Dance Medicine & Science confirms what many of us have experienced firsthand—that dancing can have a direct and positive impact on mental wellness by reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety while enhancing mood in people of all ages.

Further, new research published by the University of Sydney found that structured dance of virtually any genre can be as effective as, or even more effective than, other forms of exercise when it comes to improving psychological and cognitive well-being.

The evidence is clear: Dancing is good for your mental wellness! 🕺💃🪩💥

And that is exactly why Dancing with the Chattanooga Stars… Celebrating Mental Wellness… One Step at a Time was created.

This exciting new event is more than a night of entertainment. It is a movement designed to bring our community together through something joyful, inclusive and powerful—while shining a much-needed spotlight on mental wellness.

The Mission Behind the Movement

NAMI Chattanooga works every day to improve the lives of individuals and families affected by mental health conditions through education, support, advocacy and community awareness.

Through programs, educational initiatives, support opportunities and outreach throughout the greater Chattanooga area, NAMI Chattanooga helps individuals and families understand that they are not alone, that help is available, and that mental wellness is something we all have a role in supporting.

Mental health touches every family, every workplace, every neighborhood and every community. Yet too often, people struggle in silence because of stigma, a lack of understanding or uncertainty about where to turn.

NAMI Chattanooga is working to change that.

Dancing with the Chattanooga Stars gives our community another way to be part of that change.

Through the energy of dance, the courage of our Stars and professional dancers, and the generosity of our community, we hope to raise awareness, reduce stigma and provide critical funding that allows NAMI Chattanooga to expand its programs and educational initiatives.

One Dance. One Community. One Important Mission.

Our 2nd Annual Dancing with the Chattanooga Stars fundraiser will take place on Saturday evening, February 27, at The Signal.

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $250,000 to support NAMI Chattanooga's programs and educational initiatives throughout the greater Chattanooga area.

Over the next six months, our media partners will introduce you to the Stars, professional dancers, stories and people behind this campaign. You'll learn more about the importance of mental wellness, discover what NAMI Chattanooga is doing in our community, and watch as our Stars take on the challenge of learning to dance—all in support of a cause that affects us all.

Because this isn't just about learning the steps.

It's about taking a step toward a healthier community.

It's about starting conversations.

It's about breaking down stigma.

It's about reminding someone who may be struggling that they are not alone.

And it's about coming together to celebrate the power of connection, movement, laughter and community.

So, Chattanooga, save the date.

Put on your dancing shoes. Bring your friends. Cheer on our Stars. Support the mission.

And join us as we take one step at a time toward better mental wellness for everyone.

Dancing with the Chattanooga Stars… Celebrating Mental Wellness… One Step at a Time.

It's more than a dance. It's a movement.

It's SHOWTIME!
