I have wanted to be part of Dancing With the High Point Stars for more than ten years.
Seriously. Ten years.
So when I finally got the invitation, saying yes was the easiest part.
But getting to dance is only a tiny piece of why this matters to me.
I have built so much of my life around one simple belief, people need people. We all need someone in our corner; someone who sees us, believes in us, and reminds us of what we're capable of when we have a hard time remembering it ourselves.
That's why the work of Communities In Schools means so much to me.
They show up for kids. Not just when things are easy, but in the messy parts. They help remove the barriers standing between students and their potential and surround them with the support they need to keep going.
I know the power of having people believe in you. I also know the power of becoming that person for someone else.
So yes, I am ridiculously excited to put on a sparkly dress, learn to dance with my very own pro, and finally have my Dancing With the Stars moment.
But I want this to be bigger than that.
I want to raise a ridiculous amount of money for these kids.
