Keep Dance Is Life Moving

Dance. Music. Culture. Community. Love.

At Dance Is Life (DIL), we believe something powerful happens when people come together through music and movement.

Dance becomes more than dance, it becomes connection; it becomes culture; it becomes freedom; it becomes joy; it becomes love.

DIL is a communitarian dance experience rooted in the rich dance tradition of Latin Hustle and New York City street and club dance culture. Through free and accessible public gatherings, we create spaces where people across generations, backgrounds, identities, and abilities can move freely, connect authentically, and experience the transformative power of dancing together.

At the heart of everything we do is love—the love of dance, the love of music, the love of culture, and the love of people and our community.

Our Mission

DIL exists to preserve culture, revitalize public spaces, create access, and build community through dance and music.

We are committed to:

Preserving & Archiving Latin Hustle
Latin Hustle is a living piece of New York City cultural history. We are committed to honoring the dancers who created, shaped, and sustained this tradition by creating opportunities for intergenerational connection and preserving their stories and experiences through oral histories and archival work.

Revitalizing Cultural Public Spaces
For generations, New York City's streets, parks, clubs, and public spaces have been places where culture is created and shared. DIL sustains social dance into these spaces—creating places where people can gather, celebrate, express themselves, and experience the spontaneous creativity that makes New York City extraordinary.

Making Social Dance Accessible
Everyone deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of dance. We are committed to keeping our events free and creating welcoming, inclusive experiences for people of different abilities, identities, backgrounds, and expressions. We continue to train with accessibility professionals to help make our spaces more accessible.

Why Your Support Matters

Your tax-deductible donation allows DIL to continue turning these values into action.

Your generosity helps us:

Keep Dance is Life events free and open to the public, removing financial barriers to participation.
Compensate artists, DJs, musicians, dancers, and creative collaborators whose artistry makes our gatherings possible.
Preserve the legacy and history of Latin Hustle by documenting the stories of its multigenerational community.
Create more accessible and inclusive experiences, including partnerships with trained accessibility doulas and other accessibility resources.
Bring dance and culture into public spaces where communities can gather freely.
Sustain our year-round programming and operations so this work can continue to grow and reach even more people.

More Than a Dance Floor

The spaces we create are special.

They are spaces where generations meet, where strangers become dance partners; where people can show up exactly as they are; where history is honored while something new is created.

They are spaces for expression, connection, liberation, joy, and love.

And in a world where genuine human connection can sometimes feel increasingly rare, we believe creating these spaces matters more than ever.

When you give to DIL, you aren't simply supporting an event.

You are helping preserve a cultural legacy.
You are supporting artists’ livelihood.
You are creating access.
You are protecting spaces for self-expression and human connection.
You are strengthening a community of long-lasting relationships.

And you are helping us spread the love—one dance, one song, and one connection at a time.

Every contribution, at every level, helps keep DIL moving.

Thank you for believing in this community, in this culture, and in the power of music and dance to bring us together.

With love and gratitude,
Dance Is Life Family
