The Need

The boiler system at The Dixon Historic Theatre is as old as the building itself (104 years old!) and has kept us warm through the winter months that whole time! Our current boiler isn't original to the building and was probably installed sometime in the 80's, but that still makes it almost 50 years old, and it's starting to show signs of its age.

Last year, it started leaking water between cycles, and we knew we would have to get it repaired before turning it on again this year. We've already contracted to start repairs, and by the time some of you are reading this, the work will probably already be done. In the course of taking the boiler apart to repair the leak, contractors also discovered that one of the sections had a large rusted hole in it that could not be patched, and that section would need to be replaced completely. That new boiler section is going to cost an extra $8000 on top of the original $20,000 to repair the leak, which is mostly labor cost.

Your Gift

Every dollar given to this fundraiser will go straight into paying for our boiler repairs, no matter how big or how small your gift.

Last month, we had over 1000 patrons attend events at the theatre. If those same patrons were able to give us a gift of just $28, less than the price of most of our tickets, we'd be able to fully cover the cost of these needed repairs.

For $280, less than a full box to most shows, you'd cover 1% of the total cost of the repairs. Meaning we'd only need 100 generous supporters to join that 1% Club to cover all our repair costs!

Thank You

Every dollar around here at The Dixon is precious, and most funds we bring in are allocated for specific events or projects (like boiler repairs!), so we're asking our community to step up and help us pay for these necessary repairs so we can continue to operate and our audiences can be comfortable at every show, regardless of how hot or cold it is outside! With your support, we can get this boiler fixed and get back to serving our community by bringing in affordable, high-quality acts that entertain, amazing, and keep The Sauk Valley a great place to live.

Thank you for your support!
