It has been 14 years since the addition of the Don Wilson Memorial Fitness Center, and while it has served our school community well, it no longer meets today’s students' needs. Much of the equipment is outdated, and the current layout can feel intimidating or unwelcoming for some, leading to underuse by portions of our student population. This renovation is an opportunity to create a space that better serves everyone. It will allow us to meet the needs of our athletes, non-athletes, and those participating in physical education, health, and rehabilitation programs. Additionally, it will enhance the ability of our athletic trainers and educators to support injury prevention, recovery, and hands-on learning.

Our vision is simple: a modern, inclusive fitness center where every student feels comfortable building lifelong healthy habits and engaging in meaningful wellness education. For many students in our community, access to a gym or fitness resources outside of school simply isn’t possible. This facility is their primary, and sometimes only, opportunity to stay active, recover from injuries, and learn how to care for their physical well-being.

As a school department, we are committed to creating safe, welcoming, and engaging environments that support both physical and mental health. Renovating the Don Wilson Fitness Center is a meaningful step toward that goal, expanding access to high-quality wellness resources for all students and staff. We are confident this investment will lead to increased participation, improved health outcomes, and a stronger sense of community within our schools.
