At just three years and eleven months old, Dakari Everton Richards is embarking on a journey that many cannot fully grasp—the journey of living with autism. Though Dakari cannot speak, his bright eyes and curious spirit light up his home in Olympic Gardens, Kingston, Jamaica. He communicates through gestures, expressions, and joyful reactions to familiar sounds and faces. But his silence weighs heavily on the heart of his devoted mother, Mrs. Kenecha Richards, who longs to hear him say the word “Mommy.”

🧩 A Diagnosis, A Determined Mother

Dakari has not yet reached several critical developmental milestones. His inability to speak led to a formal diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Mrs. Richards, attentive and proactive, sought professional guidance early. The diagnosis brought clarity—and hope. With the right intervention, Dakari can learn, grow, and thrive.

The McCam School, a specialized institution for children with developmental challenges, has recommended tailored therapeutic support for Dakari. But the cost is steep: $200,000 JMD per school term, totaling $600,000 JMD annually (approximately $4,000 USD). For Mrs. Richards, who is currently unemployed and caring for four children, this amount is simply out of reach.

Despite financial hardship, Mrs. Richards remains unwavering in her love and commitment. Her days are filled with prayer, care, and quiet strength. She dreams of the day Dakari can speak his first word, play freely with his brothers, and live a life not defined by limitations.

She is now appealing to churches, organizations, and compassionate individuals to help make therapy a reality for Dakari. She also seeks counseling for herself, as the emotional toll of this journey is immense.
