Over the last six months, we have embraced a new mission: Enhancing the lives of seniors by providing comprehensive care and a high quality of life with excellence, compassion and integrity.

These new words reflect the heart of Sunrise—not just who we are now, but who we’ve always been. We’ve always provided comprehensive care. That was one of the main reasons we pioneered memory care in Siouxland, for example. We’ve always ensured a high quality of life. It’s been delivered through top-notch nursing care, a calendar filled with enriching activities, the comfort of community pets, family-friendly gathering spaces and much more. We’ve always put seniors first, because they are the heart of who we are.

Sunrise seniors make us smile, give us purpose and propel our community. They’re at the very center of everything we do. So when their circumstances change and they can no longer pay for the cost of their care, what are we to do?

We follow our heart.

We annually absorb the expenses for 9,214 total days of care for seniors whose resources have run out. The unreimbursed cost to us? A whopping $1.2 million. Yes, that’s a lot, and it may prompt this question: Why do we do it?

Our answer, of course, is easy. Seniors are the heart of Sunrise.

But truth be told, you’re the heart of Sunrise, too. As Siouxland’s only community-based senior care community, we can’t do what we do WITHOUT YOU.
