In 2026, we reached an important milestone by establishing the Elizabeth Gedi Garwo Foundation (EGGF), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening sustainable healthcare in rural Liberia.

We are launching this campaign to support the Elizabeth Gedi Garwo Clinic (EGGC) in Nimeah Beach, Grand Kru County, Liberia -- a clinic built on compassion, personal sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to improving the health of its community.

The Elizabeth Gedi Garwo Clinic is a vital healthcare resource serving people in rural Liberia, particularly in and around Grand Kru County. Built in 2017, the clinic was founded by Elizabeth Garwo, a retired registered nurse originally from Nimeah Beach, Liberia, now living in Brooklyn, New York. Motivated by deep ties to her home community, Elizabeth used her personal retirement savings to establish the clinic, creating access to essential healthcare where it is urgently needed. Since opening its doors, the clinic has earned the trust of the surrounding communities by providing compassionate care despite significant resource limitations.

What We've Accomplished Together

In 2025, critical renovations were completed to address structural disrepair and hygiene standards required by the Liberian Ministry of Health. These improvements -- including a new roof, ceilings, flooring, interior and exterior paint, windows, a delivery bed, patient beds, pharmacy storage, instrument sterilization, and an emergency transport motorcycle -- were funded by the generosity of just a few individuals, including Dr. Randy Ray and his family. These upgrades were essential to ensuring a safe clinical environment for patients and staff while allowing the clinic to remain compliant with national health standards.

In 2026, through the generosity of donors and volunteers, the Elizabeth Gedi Garwo Clinic received essential medications, medical supplies, and diagnostic equipment to improve patient care. Solar panels were installed to provide reliable electricity, and satellite internet was introduced to improve communication, access to clinical resources, and opportunities for remote collaboration. A digital data collection platform was implemented to enhance patient record keeping and support data-driven clinical decision making. Dr. Randy Ray provided medical education and training for clinic staff and worked to strengthen referral relationships with regional hospitals and Liberian physicians to improve continuity of care for patients.
