Eagles of the Wetland: 2026

Join us for a special guided eagle observation walk led by Executive Director Kayleigh Bucur and our eagle partners, including our master birders, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, Trinity River Audubon Center and others. This immersive experience offers you the opportunity to walk approximately 1 mile to an observation area that gets you as close to our eagle nest as federal and state guidelines allow. From there, we'll watch for bald eagle activity and learn about their nesting history, behavior and conservation significance within the wetland.

You'll spend approximately 60 minutes at the observation site and have the opportunity to use a spotting scope for close viewing of the nest.

Shade will be available at the site. You're encouraged to bring your own water and snacks or purchase refreshments from the Nature Store prior to departure.

Space is limited to 20 participants per session. Advance registration is required.

We will offer two guided sessions:

Morning Session

11 a.m. – Depart Wetland Center for guided history walk to observation tower.
11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. – Eagle observation and program at tower.
12:30 p.m. – Program concludes; participants may return to the Center at their leisure (self-guided return).

Afternoon Session

1 p.m. – Depart Wetland Center for guided history walk to observation tower.
1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. – Eagle observation and program at tower.
2:30 p.m. – Program concludes; participants may return to the Center at their leisure (self-guided return).

Additional Details

Cost: $20 per person.
Capacity: 20 participants per session.
Participants must be able to walk approximately 1 mile on the boardwalk and gravel road to the observation tower.
Shade provided at observation location.
Bring water and snacks (or purchase from Nature Store before departure).
Event will proceed weather permitting.

Our Program Refund Policy

If we must cancel the program, you will receive a full refund. If we must reschedule the program, you will be offered the choice of attending on the new date or receiving a full refund. If you cancel attending the program on the original date, no refund will be issued.
